disappearing friends
Funny, I rarely get on here anymore, I just checked and cleared out a bunch of communities and such. Turns out, nearly none of my friends that are still on here, ever post anymore either! LOL

deli
Ok, so I went to Safeway here on MacDonald & San Pablo, they actually have good deals on good sandwiches at their deli (not those pre-made ones). So I head over there and decide I want some of their clam chowder, as I’m finishing filling my cup with soup, I feel this presence approach awkwardly close behind me, I ignore it as I was at a precarious moment of filling the cup, and wonder if it’s a friend, since the person felt so close. As I get a better grip on the cup and turn, no, it’s just this older black guy, who reminds me of Uncle Ruckus from Boondocks, but with a black leather biker vest. I think nothing of it, after all, I’m in Richmond, and I move out of his way as I’m now done with that part of the counter, I go around the corner to where the lids and such are. I see him try to reach through the glass to get a cup… I grab one of the cups for him and hand it too him, thinking, “that was odd”, he thanks me for the cup with barely more than a grunt, but it didn’t seem rude, just part of his old age.

I go and stand in line for a sandwich, they’re never properly staffed at this deli. There is another older black man inline in front of me, kinda grandfatherly. The Uncle Ruckus character approaches behind me again, I notice he has a cold beverage lid on his cup now, instead of the lids made for hot soup, I vaguely wonder where he even found that lid, since they aren’t any like that near the soup. He begins speaking to the fellow in front of me, “don’t you want some soup? They have Jambalaya, [long pause] clam chowder, and [another long pause]”. This is where I pipe up and add “chicken noodle soup”. The gentleman in front barely acknowledges Uncle Ruckus’ presence. Then Uncle Ruckus asks me, “do you mind if I go in front of you? We’re together”. I pause for a moment, normally I could care less, but this has been a very slow line, and I’m next! “yea, go ahead” and I gesture, I figured I didn’t want to play monkey-in-the-middle of whatever this was. He doesn’t thank me I noticed, but he does offer the explanation, “we need to get back to work”. “so do I” was my response, but I still let him go ahead of me. I REALLY wanted to ask where the heck these fine folks were employed, but I figured less interaction was advantageous.

Now he’s up to order his sandwich, the deli staff asks what kind of bread he wanted, Uncle Ruckus replies, “brown”, she inquires further, “wheat?”, he replies, “sure”. Now I’m doing all I can not to openly laugh out loud, I think the deli girl saw it on my face, I certainly saw the bewilderment on hers.

This story has already become far too long, but I will conclude by saying, there was further confusion at check out!

festivals
So, I already have my tickets for the Outsidelands music festival at the end of August, and i'm thinking i'm going to get a ticket, just for Sunday for the Treasure Island music festival at the end of September. Are any of you attending either of these?

After having already gone to Coachella this year, this just might turn out to be my year of music festivals!

I had a really disturbing dream last night. It lasted hours, I kept waking up and going back to sleep to it.

I was an adult, but younger than I am now, I was living at “home” but home was a side by side duplex, with a large grass back yard. It was late in the evening, sunset, maybe alittle later, people were turning in for the night, but I was in the front of the house with my mom and dad (I cant ever remember dreaming that my parents were together). We all heard something, and I went to investigate in the back of the house, where the bedrooms where. My window was open (I’ve been sleeping in real life with my front window open and it makes me alittle nervous, but the room is insanely warm so I do it anyways) I thought I saw movement (not sure if I saw the movement inside or outside) but didn’t find anything and went back to the front room with my parents. Again, in some time, I heard noises and went to the back bedroom. This time I saw something outside in our backyard, so I went outside, I’m in complete defense mode now and had a handgun. Im in the backyard now and I turn back towards the house, I’m about half way in the backyard (so a little ways from the house) and I see an intruder coming from the house towards me, he has some of our stuff, and I think he means to assault me, I shoot him dead with minimal shots and immediately wheel around and shoot and kill a 2nd intruder I had noticed in the far corner of the yard, and immediately turn and shoot and kill with a single shot a 3rd individual that was at the far side of the yard.

The cops are immediately called and arrive and they’re asking me questions. It turns out, the 3rd person, was a 15 yr old son of the neighboring family in our duplex (we shared a backyard) and was not connected to the 2 robbers. I am stricken. At first I felt so good I had defended our home, and “got” the bad guy, but reality is setting in on me, that I killed an innocent, and the killing of the 2nd robber was not self defense, in fact, the killing of the 1st robber may not even be considered self defense. The cops let me go temporarily, but for the next few days I’m really jacked up because I’m afraid I committed murder of the robbers and that I DID murder the kid. The rest of the dream is spent being troubled and waiting for the cops to come and arrest me.

One of our carpenter subcontractors who is “very” Mexican, just came in to look at the new changes on the drawings, after a long pause he turns and looks at a coworker and myself and asked in true bewilderment, “why are they putting baby changing stations in the men’s bathroom?”

I almost fell over laughing, that says SO much!
